Monday - TSW explore the structure of an atom. TSW record important terms for Chapter 19 and complete the workbook pages for Chapter 19. TTW discuss the size and charge of subatomic particles and TSW view BrainPop Videos on the Periodic Table and the Structure of atoms. The class will take the BrainPop Quiz.

Homework: Study Chapter 19 vocabulary. There will be a vocabulary quiz tomorrow.

Tuesday - TSW demonstrate mastery of key vocabulary terms for Chapter 19. TSW complete chapter 19 in the science workbook, explore the structure of an atom and determine the capacity of each energy level.

Homework:  Study your class notes.

Wednesday - TSW determine the valence electron number and create electron dot configurations for selected elements.

Homework: Study your class notes.

Thursday - TSW have an opportunity to complete an extra credit assignment: Examples, Generalizations & Analogies in Science. (Many students will be out of class for the choir competition.)

Homework: Study your class notes.

Friday - TSW covalently bond selected elements using electron dot configurations.

Homework: Study your class notes.

Dear Parent:

This week, I will guide students through the SCS Sex Respect Curriculum. If you choose not to allow your child to participate, please send a letter to Mr. Joy and an alternate assignment will be given. (Last week, I distributed letters written by the SCS Board of Education.) Here is a summary of the topics included in the curriculum: The Meaning of Real Love, Why Date?, Sexual Harassment, Saying No & Staying Cool and Selecting a Spouse

There will be NO grades given based on the Sex Respect Curriculum.

Monday - TCAP Review [TSW use his/her graphic organizer and notes from the beginning of the year (distributed Friday) to complete the Genetics/Meiosis Test from Q1. Group-work is allowed.]

Homework: Study your notes on tectonic plates, mitosis & meiosis, mutations.

Tuesday - TCAP Review (TSW complete a classwork assignment based on yesterday’s review.  TSW use his/her class notes and book to complete the Genes and Gene Technology Test from Q1.) TTW demonstrate the interaction between antacids and the human stomach lining as an illustration of indicator solution in acids and bases.

Homework: Study notes on acids and bases your graphic organizer of the Earth’s Structure and your notes on Biomes.

Wednesday - TCAP Review (TSW complete a classwork assignment based on yesterday’s review.  TSW complete the Gene and Gene Technology Test.  TTW illustrate endo/exothermic reactions and general factors that speed up chemical reactions.)

Thursday - TCAP Review (TSW complete a classwork assignment based on yesterday’s review.)

Monday - In Ms. Brown’s absence, TSW complete a TCAP practice tesst and Chapter 20 in the science workbook.

Homework:  None

Tuesday - TTW collect all assignments on Newton’s 1st Law of  Motion.  TTW introduce balancing equations.  TTW work several practice problems on the board and TSW complete practice problems independently.

Homework:  Complete the practice problems from today’s assignment and study the steps to balancing equations.

Wednesday - TTW collect all assignments for Newton’s 2nd Law of Motion.  TTW review yesterday’s assignment, TSW complete more practice work then complete a graded assignment on balancing equations.

Homework:  Study your practice problems and the stepst to balancing equations.  There will be a balancing equations quiz (that includes naming the first 20 elements) this Friday. 

Thursday - TTW collect all assignments for Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion.  TTW review more problems on balancing equations and demonstrate how to identify acids and bases.

Homework:  Study for tomorrow’s quiz.

Friday - TSW will demonstrate his or her understanding of balancing equations and identify the element names and symbols for the first 20 elements on the periodic table through a short quiz.
