Monday – Students will be given an opportunity to complete their 4-year plans in preparation for tomorrow’s 9th grade registration. Any students having completed their 4-year plans will complete tonight’s homework assignment and any missing assignments.
Homework: Textbook p. 463 & 467 (Newton’s Laws of Motion) Spi 8.11.6
Tuesday – TTW review answers for the Chapter 16 Review (textbook) and Chapter 16 Section 4 from the workbook. TSW complete workbook Chapter 17 Section 2 (Newton’s Laws of Motion) Spi 8.11.1,3,4,7 There will be a QUIZ TOMORROW over mass, weight and acceleration. Spi 8.11.1,3,4,7
Homework: Complete Chapter 17 Section 2 (Workbook) and the section reviews on pages 463 & 467. Prepare for tomorrow’s quiz over mass, weight and acceleration. Remember, you should have known the difference between mass and weight based on the 7th grade curriculum.
Wednesday – TTW review workbook Chapter 17 Section 2 and pages 463 & 467. TSW take notes Newton’s Laws of Motion and complete a classwork assignment that covers the Law of Motion.
Each student will be assigned one of the laws for which he or she will write a one-page paper. The paper must be typed (double-spaced) using a 12pt. font. TSW describe his or her assigned law and give an example of the law. In addition, TSW create a video that illustrates the law in motion. Students are allowed to complete the video in groups. WARNING…EACH STUDENT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL INFORMATION REQUESTED. THIS ASSIGNMENT IS DUE ON APRIL 1ST (First Law of Motion), APRIL 2ND (Second Law of Motion) OR APRIL 3RD (Third Law of Motion). TTW keep a record of which law each student was assigned. Spi 8.11.6
Homework: If you would like to get ahead, begin reading Chapter 18 pages 482 – 495 (Types of Machines).
Thursday – TSW take notes on the different types of simple machines and complete a classwork assignment that covers simple machines.
Each student is responsible for locating one of each simple machine type (lever, inclined plane, wedge, screw, pulley and wheel & axle) in the city. DO NOT PRINT PICTURES FROM THE INTERNET! Students must take a picture of the machine and provide the following information: type of machine, how it makes work easier, where it was found. The pictures may be placed on a poster board or in a power point presentation. Students are allowed to work in groups; however here is a warning…EACH STUDENT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL INFORMATION REQUESTED. THIS ASSIGNMENT IS DUE MARCH 26TH. Spi 8.11.5
Homework: Study your notes on Newton’s Laws of Motion and the six simple machines.
Friday – TSW complete classwork assignments that cover content from chapters 16, 17 and 18 content. TSW prepare a study guide for a test NEXT WEDNESDAY over this material.
Homework: STUDY YOUR STUDY GUIDE THAT COVERS THE MATERIAL IN CHAPTERS 16, 17 & 18. THERE WILL BE A TEST OVER THIS MATERIAL NEXT WEDNESDAY.
