Tuesday - TSW explain how convection, mid ocean ridges and slab pulls affect tectonic plate movement. TSW prep his or her lab book for tomorrow’s activity.

There will be a quiz over earth’s major tectonic plates this Thursday.

Homework: Don’t forget to boil your egg tonight and research the following terms: convergent, divergent and transform

Wednesday - TSW complete a lab that demonstrates convergent, divergent and transform boundaries of tectonic plates using a hard boiled egg. spi.8.9.3

Thursday - TSW demonstrate mastery of the earth’s major tectonic plates through a short quiz. TTW review tectonic plates and TSW explain why sea floor spreading does not increase the diameter of earth using a series of Brain Pop clips. TSW discuss atoms elements, compounds, mixtures and their relationships as an introduction to minerals and rocks. TSW view a Brain Pop clip on mixtures and compounds.

Friday - The student will read chapter 7 and complete the directed reading workbook pages for chapter 7. TSW create a mnemonic to help then remember the order of Mohs’ Hardness Scale, textbook page 166.  Please submit this mneumonic to the substitute teacher. (Ms. Brown will not be in attendance.)
