Monday – TTW review information on the relatedness of organisms, in preparation for TOMORROW’S QUIZ. TSW view Brain Pop clips and complete activities on the earth’s features and tectonic plates. TSW take notes on these topics. 8.9.spi.1,2
Homework: REMEMBER, you should have completed your science fair experiment this past weekend. Steps 1-6 of the guidelines schedule are due for review by FRIDAY. (I will accept early submissions.) Use the following site to help you write the research portion of your report (look at what the site calls the introduction).

Tuesday – TSW demonstrate his or her mastery of the relatedness of organisms through a short quiz. TSW read chapter 11 section 1 (textbook) and complete the corresponding workbook pages.
Homework: Complete Practice Probe #916271 on the Think Link Learning Website (orange box). Print your results and submit them for a grade. Finish the graphic organizer that covers earth’s structure & tectonic plates and the chapter 11 section 1 workbook pages.
Wednesday – TTW review the chapter 11 section 1 workbook pages and TSW write a story describing their own “journey to the center of the Earth”, or write a travel guide that describes the experience of traveling through Earth’s different layers. TSW complete Lesson 17 (p. 116) in the T-CAP Coach Book.
Homework: Memorize earth’s structure. (Lithosphere - the crust and rigid upper part of the mantle, Asthenosphere – soft layer of mantle, Mesosphere – strong lower part of the mantle, Outer Core – liquid layer of Earth’s core, Inner Core – Solid dense center of Earth.)
Thursday – TSW describe Wegener’s theory of Continental drift, and explain why it was not accepted at first and explain how sea-floor spreading provides a way for continents to move. TSW complete Lesson 18 (p. 120) in the T-CAP Coach Book. TSW read chapter 11 section 2 (textbook) and complete the corresponding workbook pages.
Homework: Memorize the major tectonic plates. (Pacific, North American, Cocos, Nazca, South American, African, Erasian, India, Australian, Antarctic). Complete any unfinished workbook pages.
Friday – TSW complete a PoP QuiZ over this weeks’ classwork (not a surprise if you read the blog). TSW describe how new oceanic crust forms at mid-ocean ridges and explain how magnetic reversals provide evidence for sea-floor spreading using a plate tectonics Webquest.

Homework – We will complete a science lab next Wednesday that includes one hard boiled egg. I will need each student to bring one hard boiled egg to school in order to complete this lab.
