Monday - TTW review classroom and team policies and procedures. TTW facilitate a class discussion/review of similarities and differences between organisms. TTW review science fair requirements.
Homework: There will be a quiz this THURSDAY over organism diversity and adaptation. Study your Keys to the Kingdom Chart and the vocabulary review worksheet (the one with the word search on back).
This is the classification from domain to species - Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species. Use this mneumonic to help you remember the order - King Phillip Came Over For Grape Soda.

Wednesday - TTW review the organism diversity and adaptation study guide and introduce our next unit Earth’s Features.

Thursday - TSW demonstrate his or her ability to identify similarities and differences among organisms, infer the relatedness of different and classify plants and animals according to their features through a short assessment (spi.8.5..1,2,3)
THERE WILL BE A QUIZ OVER THE RELATEDNESS OF ORGANISMS ON NEXT TUESDAY.
Homework: Proof read your question, hypothesis and procedures. If you want to get ahead of the gang, go ahead and type these items and save them to a word document in preparation for compiling your written report for the project. Also, ask your parents to secure a display board for your presentation.
Friday - TSW use a classification key to identify unknown organsims. TSW use a dichotomous key to determine the genus and species of an organism. (spi.8.5.3,5)
Homework: Conduct your experiment and record all data in your science fair project folder.

Monday - TSW create a graphic organizer that identifies characteristics associated with the following Kingdoms: Animalia, Plantae, Protista, Fungi, Eubacteria. TSW include the sketch of an example for each. TSW complete a classification puzzle.
Homework: Review your notes from today. Please record your procedures in your science fair project folder.
Tuesday - TSW complete T-CAP Coach activities for the following topics: Similarities and Differences Among Organisms (p.90), Inferring the Relatedness of Organisms (94) and Classifying Plants and Animals (98).
Homework: REMINDER - you should have all materials for your science fair project collected by tomorrow.
Wednesday - TSW complete the T-CAP Coach activities for the following topics: Identifying Unknown Organisms (102) and Using a Dichotomous Key (106). TSW also complete part 2 of the T-CAP Coach pre-test (21-30). TSW use a key to check his or her answers for the pre-test. TSW make notes about any questions answered incorrectly.
Thursday - TTW review the T-CAP Coach exercises from Tuesday and Wednesday.
Friday - Winter Break Begins
ENJOY your break, but don’t forget about the science fair. When you are tired of doing nothing, get started on your project. This will allow you extra time to nap after school while adjusting to your return from the break. See you next year!

Monday - TSW complete part one of the T-CAP Coach pre-test. TSW check his or her test and make notes on any questions answered incorrectly. TSW share his or her science fair project topic with the teacher.
Homework: REMINDER - All missing assignments are due by Thursday upon arrival. NO EXCEPTIONS!
If you did not get your science fair packet signed by your parent, please do so. REMEMBER, your science fair project question, hypothesis and research are DUE this FRIDAY.
Tuesday - TTW review the T-CAP Coach exercises from Friday and Monday. TSW complete a classification exercise and submit his or her chapter 4 workbook pages.
Homework: Research your science fair project topic.
Wednesday - TSW create a dichotomous key using the classifying shoes activity on textbook page 83.
Homework: Research your science fair project topic. Remember, your question, hypothesis and research are due FRIDAY.
Thursday - TSW test another groups’ dichotomous key and write reflections for the dichotomous key activity. TSW use the Linnaeus’s system for taxonomy to name 12 specimens.
Homework: Research your science fair project topic. Remember, your question, hypothesis and research are due TOMOROW.
Friday - TSW submit his or her question, hypothesis and research for the science fair project. TSW use extra-terrestrial life form characteristics to demonstrate mastery of classification systems.
Homework: - Begin collecting your science fair project materials.

Monday - TSW give an oral presentation for the marine ecosystem travel brochure. TSW complete a study guide for Chapter 5 Section 2. There will be Chapter 5 Section 2 (Aquatic Biomes) quiz on Thursday.
Homework: Study your Chapter 5 Section 2 study guide.
Tuesday - TTW review the Chapter 5 Section 2 study guide. TSW begin TCAP Coach exercises on the following topics: Abiotic and Biotic Factors, Metamorphosis and Mutualism, Commensalism & Parasitism.
Wednesday - TSW complete the TCAP Coach exercises and write sentences using select words from the classwork.
Thursday - TSW demonstrate mastery of aquatic biomes through a short quiz. TSW use the GMS Library Science Fair Book Cart to explore topics of interest for their Science Fair Projects.
Friday - TSW complete the mid-year Think Link assessment. TTW distribute & review Science Fair Project materials and expectations.
Homework: Ask your parents to read and sign your science fair project packet.
