Monday – TTW make sure that students have recorded Chapter 1 Section 2 Vocabulary in their blue folders/binders. TTW review 7th grade concepts critical to grasping reproduction in eukaryotic organisms. TSW complete the mitosis side of his or her graphic organizer, which contrasts the differences between mitosis and meiosis. TTW show two Brain Pop videos on asexual reproduction and sexual reproduction. (Spi’s 8.4.3 & 8.4.3.4)

There will be a chapter 2 section 2 vocabulary quiz this Friday over the following terms: sex cells, homologous chromosomes, meiosis, sex chromosomes. Remember, terms from Chapter 2 Section 1 may be included on this quiz.

Do not forget about the Bunny Babies activity that we will complete in class on Friday. Remember to bring the materials that you and your group members agreed upon to construct your baby. You will also need to consider items such as tape and glue sticks.

Homework: Complete the mitosis side of your graphic organizer and study your notes from today.

Tuesday – TTW explain in detail each phase of the eukaryotic cell cycle (from interphase to cytokinesis) and TSW record a pictorial representation of the cycle in his or her notes. TTW review the workbook pages for Chapter 2 Section 2.

Homework: Please review your notes for Friday’s Chapter 2 Section 2 vocabulary quiz.

Wednesday – TTW review the cell cycle and TSW contrast somatic cells (body cells) & gametes (sex cells) and their replication process.

Homework: none

Thursday – TSW complete his or her mitosis vs. meiosis graphic organizer and explain the difference between male and female sex chromosomes.

Homework: Don’t forget to bring your materials to class for tomorrow’s Bunny Babies activity.

Friday – TSW demonstrate mastery of Chapter 2 Section 2 vocabulary through a short quiz. TSW apply his or her understanding of Mendelian genetics by constructing a Bunny Baby based on the genotype and phenotype data collected during last Friday’s class assignment.
