Science Lesson Plans: October 30th - November 2nd
Monday – TSW explain the relationship between reactants and products in a chemical formula.
Tuesday – TSW classify substances as elements or compounds from their symbols or formulas (7.12.spi.3).
Homework: Memorize the formula for photosynthesis by Friday (textbook page 90). You must be able to recognize both the words and symbols for each reactant and product. Remember, a formula is very specific so don’t forget that there must be a certain number of molecules of each reactant and product.
Wednesday – TSW apply his or her knowledge of elements and compounds to the formula for photosynthesis. TSW identify the reactants and products of photosynthesis and respiration (7.3.spi.6).
Homework – Review the formula for cellular respiration on textbook page 91. Recognize that it is the reverse of photosynthesis. Note: If you know the formula for photosynthesis you will always be able to determine the formula for cellular respiration.
Thursday – TSW associate the processes of photosynthesis and respiration with appropriate cellular organelles (7.3.spi.7).
Homework: Memorize the formula for photosynthesis by Friday.
Friday – TTW review Chapter 4 Sections 1 and 2. There will be a quiz over this material next Tuesday.
Science Lesson Plans: October 23rd - 27th
Monday – TSW write a description of the experiment that TT set up last Friday and describe what it looks like today. TSW predict what occurred over the weekend. (7.1.spi.6) TSW complete Chapter 4 Section 1 Review in the textbook (page 89) and Chapter 4 Section 2 in the workbook (pages 30-33).
Homework: Complete any unfinished classwork from today.
Tuesday – TTW lead students in a review of the diffusion Venn Diagram and classwork from yesterday. TSW use new terminology to explain the diffusion picture on page 86 of the textbook (figure 2). (7.1.spi.6)
Homework: Study your chapter 4 section 1 notes in your blue folder. Come to class prepared to explain diffusion, osmosis, passive transport and active transport.
Wednesday – TTW review the human organ systems and TSW (7.1.spi.5) determine the relationships among cells, tissues, organs, and systems given a diagram and identify the function of organ systems. TSW (7.1.spi.6) predict the movement of substances through osmosis or diffusion across the cell membrane, given solutions of different concentrations.
Homework: Study your class notes.
Thursday – TSW take notes on chapter 4 section 2. (Photosynthesis and Cellular respiration.) TTW introduce elements, compounds and the periodic table.
Homework: Complete the chapter 4 section 2 review in your textbook (page 93).
Friday – TTW review chapter 4 section 2 and the student will complete reinforcement classwork over photosynthesis and cellular respiration.
Homework: Memorize the formulas for photosynthesis and cellular respiration. Remember, if you know one you can figure out the other.
Science Lesson Plans: October 16th - 20th
Monday – TSW explain the functions of each part of a eukaryotic and prokaryotic cell. TSW describe and illustrate the differences between plant and animal cells.
Homework: TSW read textbook pages 278 and 279.
Tuesday – TSW identify each of the 11 human organ systems given a diagram and explain the functions of each. TSW construct a graphic organizer detailing the 11 human organ systems.
Homework: TSW study the 11 human organ systems.
Wednesday – TSW illustrate passive and active transport (page 88 figures 4 & 5).
Thursday – TTW conduct a review of major concepts covered during the 1st nine weeks. TTW extend the concepts of the cell theory and small cell size.
Friday – TSW complete an organ systems chart that requires them to organize from the cellular to the system level. TTW will demonstrate diffusion and TSW take notes on diffusion.
Science Lesson Plans: October 2nd – October 6th
Monday – TTW perform a folder and workbook check and introduce students to Chapter 4. TSW scan chapter 4 and begin an outline of the chapter.
Homework: Study your crossword puzzle and corrected graphic organizer in preparation for Thursday’s Chapter 3 Test.
Tuesday – TTW review Chapter 3 Section 3 in preparation for Thursday’s test.
Homework: Review Chapter 3 Section 3 in your red workbook.
Wednesday – TTW conduct a baseball review in preparation for tomorrow’s test.
Homework: Study all of your notes for tomorrow’s test.
Thursday – TSW demonstrate mastery of chapter 3 concepts through a T-CAP based assessment. TSW complete his or her chapter 4 outline.
Friday – Fall Break Begins
Science Lesson Plans: September 25th – 29th
Monday – TSW take notes on cell similarities and complete his or her organelle graphic organizer.
Homework: Please review your chapter 3 notes.
Tuesday – TSW will write a short story, poem or song about what would happen if all of a cell’s organelles rebelled against the nucleus. The writing must demonstrate TS understanding of each organelle’s role. This assignment is due Thursday.
Homework: Work on your creative writing assignment.
Wednesday – TSW summarize the differences between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells using a Venn Diagram. TSW use this information to determine in which type of cell each organelle resides for the organelle graphic organizer.
Thursday – TSW will share (oral presentation) his or short story regarding what happens when organelles rebel against the nucleus.
Homework: Chapter 3 Crossword Puzzle.
Friday - TSW complete a Chapter 3 Quiz and work in cooperative groups to develop review questions for next week’s baseball review.
Chapter 3 Test Next Thursday
